Here are some ground rules for this Memorial Day Weekend:

1. Don't wish me a Happy Memorial Day - there is nothing happy about brave men and women dying.

2. It's not a holiday or a sale, it's a day of remembrance.

3. You want to know the true meaning, visit your local Cemetery or a VA Hospital.

4. Don't tell me how great anyone political power is. Let's talk about and honor those who gave their all so we can enjoy the freedoms we have.

5. Say a prayer, and then raise a glass and thank God for the men/women who are no longer here.

P.S. DO NOT "Thank" a living Veteran for his/her service... they'll get honored on Veterans' Day in November !!

This is a time to remember that the true price of Freedom is spent in the lives that defend it. Honor those brave souls that have, in a moment of courage, given the last full measure of themselves in order to secure Liberty.

SNEAK PEEK: Happy Birthday Gorgeous Happy Birthday Thinlit

When I saw this Happy Birthday Thinlit in the new 2017-2018 Annual Catalog I knew I had to have it! I love the font (similar to the Stylized Birthday stamp!) and the size- perfect for the main image on a card! It comes in a bundle with a coordinating stamp set called "Happy Birthday Gorgeous". The flowers, leaves, and squiggle are from the set.

Adding the Rhinestones was a happy accident. The flower stamps have a little tab on them to help line them up, but I got ink on one and ended up with a stray spot above the right flower. It started as a mistake, but ended up a creative opportunity!

I love how Kim cut apart the Flourish and made it wrap around the circle!

Also uses Pearl Basic Jewels, which are on the Retiring List and have sold out. But never fear! They are coming back in the 2017-2018 Annual Catalog in a new configuration! Instead of 50 each in 2, 3, and 5 mm they'll come in 3 (100), 4 (20), and 5 (20) mm. And no more connected strips. I always ended up cutting those apart any way! I'm excited to have more of the 3 mm size! Not too big and not too small!

I used the little dots from Timeless Textures on the "sand".

I had my first card done and it just needed something. The little glass with a bendy straw was perfect, especially stamped in Lemon Lime Twist! The framelit cuts a border around the image and it looked funny with no other white on the card. I trimmed it but ended up losing the straw since it's so tiny. So I stamped it on the card in Soft Sky so it just barely shows up, then used my Soft Sky marker to go over the straw and added the cut out glass on top. I would love to be sitting in that chair on a beach with a glass of lemonade!

Now that I'm looking at the picture of the card on my computer, I should have added a Real Red layer of cardstock under the Whisper White so just a thin line would show at the top and bottom. But I would have to take the whole card apart and I used Fast Fuse so that won't happen!

Good Bye Big Shot Plate!

Instead of a project, today I'm sharing a picture of a well-loved Big Shot plate:

I always flip my plates to keep them from only bending one way, but this one was weird. It got to the point that I couldn't flip it anymore- it wouldn't even go through the Big Shot because it was to bowed. Then this happened. Time for a new one! That's why I always keep an extra set on hand.
