Tiny Treat Box Advent Calendar

I planned on making this project the day that John got in his accident. I've had the supplies for it just sitting on my desk, waiting for me to put it together. I finally sat down and worked on it! I used the Tiny Treat Boxes again. I used my computer to print the numbers since I have no number stamps.

It even looks cool from the back!

I used the 1/2" Circle Punch to make finger holes in the top of the boxes. Otherwise it would have been very difficult to open them!

The ribbon I used is retired. I also used retired Sticky Strip to put the boxes together, but you could use the new Tear & Tape Adhesive (#138995) on page 156 of the catalog. I actually like the new tape better, but want to use up what I have on hand.

Quick update on John: he got a call yesterday with the results of the MRI. Something is partially torn in his left shoulder. They want him to see an Orthopedic doctor and he may need to have another MRI to get a better view of the tear. And he finally got a call from the insurance company- the truck is totaled. Now they need to work out the final numbers. John is trying to decide if he wants to order a new truck or buy a used one.

Paper Pumpkin September 2015 Wickedly Sweet Treat - Part 2

We had our monthly Stamp Share last week. With John's accident and all the crazy that has gone along with it, I ended up making the cute little bags from the September Paper Pumpkin for my swap. I used the "Truly Grateful" greeting with the leaf stamp.

I put some candy in each and had a dozen of them done in about 30 minutes. The kit comes with 8 bags, so I used 2 kits to get enough for the swap.

Update On John

Quick update on John- he's been complaining of pain in his left shoulder so we went to Urgent Care last night. They did x-rays and nothing is broken. They think he has a pinched nerve so he's wearing an immobilizer to see if that helps. Still waiting to hear what's happening with the truck.

John's Accident

Sorry I haven't posted since last week. Wednesday morning John called and told me he rolled his truck. He's OK other than 8 stitches in his right ear, 3 staples on the top of his head and some smaller cuts and bruises. The truck is pretty much totaled. He was 1/2 mile from where he was going to unload Northwest of Bismarck, ND, on a narrow road with not much shoulder in the dark. He caught the edge and almost had the truck corrected, but the trailer went off and he got sucked into the ditch. He got out on his own and after going to the hospital went back to the site to help pump the fuel from his trailer to another trailer and went with to make the delivery. I drove to Bismarck (6 hours!) that night to get him. The next morning he went through the truck to get all his stuff and then I drove home. I'm so thankful he's alive! This has been my worst nightmare with him driving truck! Hug the ones you love and be grateful they come home at night!

Tiny Treat Box Advent Tree Configuration

Yesterday I showed you my version of the Tiny Treat Box Advent Tree. Today I'll show you how I made it.

I started with cutting 156 squares of Designer Series Paper that are 1 7/8". I adhered them to each side of 26 Tiny Treat Boxes using Fast Fuse Adhesive. Please note that I ended up using only 25 boxes, so if you follow my directions, don't worry about the 26th box. Use 150 squares of DSP. For the sides that have the thumb hole, I used a 3/4" Circle Punch and punched about 1/3 of the way in from the edge. You'll be able to see that better on the next few pictures.

The bottom layer- 9 boxes. I attached them to a circle I cut from cardboard.

The next layer- 7 boxes. Also attached a circle of cardboard.

The middle layer- 5 boxes. Attached to a pentagon of cardboard (less to show in between the boxes!)

I forgot to take a picture of the next layer, but it's 3 boxes arranged in a triangle on top of the middle layer. No cardboard. Then I put the last box on top. I used retired Sticky Strip, which has been replaced with Tear & Tape Adhesive. I loved Sticky Strip and stocked up on it, but the new Tear & Tape is even more awesome- no scissor required to cut it! But I need to use up what I have.

The final "tree" before I added the numbers and the bow on top. You can see my 26th box sitting by my markers at the top of the picture. No need for it after I figured out this configuration!

Tiny Treat Box Advent Tree

Recently on the Stampin' Up! Blog, they shared an Advent Calendar Tree made from the Tiny Treat Boxes. It was so cute, I decided I needed to make one! Their tree used 26 boxes and is tall and narrow. I figured out how to make it with 25 boxes since that's how many come in the package.
