Group Meeting Projects

close up of the flowers

Big Shot Flowers on a canvas tote bag

Big Shot Butterfly etched on a glass votive holder
These are the projects we made at our group meeting the other day. We started by cutting out a shape in contact paper using the Big Shot and putting the negative image on a glass votive holder. Then we put on a layer of glass etching cream (which really smells!). We set those aside and started on the tote bags. Did you know you can cut fabric with the Big Shot? And if you put Wonder Under (or something like that- I don't normally do fabrics!) on the back and iron it on 1st, then you can peel off the backing and iron on the cut out shapes. Very cool!
As you can see, I wasn't paying attention when I went to put my buttons on the flowers and would have ended up with pink on pink, so I left it off. Other than that, this was a very easy project that turned out pretty cute! We may have to do something like this for a class in the future...

My Swaps for our Group Meeting

4 Hershey's Nuggets fit perfectly inside!

I went to a meeting at my upline's last night. We always do a card swap, but I didn't feel like making cards. I decided to use the new Matchbox Big Shot Die that is in the Occasions Mini Catalog (page 16, #114890, $42.95) to make these cute little boxes instead! I forgot to take a picture before I left, so I had to make another one today to show you. I used 3 different colors of cardstock: Tempting Turquoise, Orchid Opulance, and Certainly Celery and mixed them up so all 3 colors were on each box. Then I stamped some like the bottom picture above with The Great Friend stamp set (p. 6, #113792, $17.95) and some with "Celebrate" from the Matchbox Messages stamp set (p. 17, #113800, $25.95). All of them had a piece of the 5/8" Satin Ribbon (p. 17, #114616, $8.95) and a rhinestone brad for some bling!
I also decided to also make one with a clear acetate cover- it's hard to see in the pictures but it's there. These boxes are the perfect size for 4 Hershey's Nuggets, and the clear cover really shows them off! Each Nugget has an address label stamped with the dots from Big Bold Birthday wrapped around it. The colors I used are: Tempting Turquoise, Certainly Celery, Apricot Appeal, and Cameo Coral. I used my Color Coach to choose them. The stamp on the tag is also from Matchbox Messages, stamped in Cameo Coral, layered on Certainly Celery, and tied on to Apricot Grosgrain with a silver eyelet and linen thread.
Wouldn't these make great wedding or party favors? Or just a cute little gift! Besides the Nuggets, 6 Hershey Kisses, 2 Ghiradelli Chocolate squares, 3 lip balms, a pair of baby socks, golf tees, small deck of cards, and of course money also fit inside.

(Thanks to Jenn D for the inspiration on this one- LOVE it!)

These were the swaps I made for the Regional in Minneapolis. I had an idea in mind and when I went thru my Designer Series Paper I found some pieces I had cut for another project. I decided to use them up and these were what I came up with. I tried using the stamp set I had in mind but it didn't look right so I used these instead. I made a total of 90 to swap.
