To Die For Dies!

It was a good thing I was by myself when I first looked thru the Occasions Mini Catalog! I'm sure I squealed when I flipped to page 6 and saw the Framelits Dies! I've been waiting a long time for Stampin' Up! to carry a product like this! I have used another brand for my personal projects for years and really like them, but I will admit I haven't touched them since I got my SU! Framelits!

from the Occasions Mini Catalog, copyright Stampin' Up!

Here's a swap I made using the Labels Collection, Sprinkled Expressions (Sale-A-Bration set), Take It To Heart (Occasions Mini, page 14) and Teeny Tiny Wishes (Idea Book & Catalog, page 157).

Colors: Real Red & Whisper White

Instead of cutting out the banner, I stamped it on the large Whisper White label in Real Red, then used an exacto knife to cut a slit that the Real Read label could slide into. Much easier- especially since I made 45 of these!

Sweet Shop Suite Is SWEET!

Have you seen the Sweet Shop Product Suite in the Occasions Mini Catalog? It's coordinating products with a cupcake and ice cream theme. I love it! Two stamp sets, Designer Series Paper, Designer Stickers, Decor Elements, epoxy brads, baker's twine, and scented embossing powder! They are on pages 32-36, so check them out if you haven't already!

Here are two cards I made for a swap that use the Sweet Shop Designer Stickers and Designer Series Paper.

Leadership 2012- San Antonio

Before I start, I have to apologize for not posting much lately. With moving, the holidays, and getting ready for Leadership, there just haven't been enough hours in the day to do everything I want to do. I hope that will change now that things are calming down around here! Thanks for not giving up on me!

I was just at Stampin' Up!'s Leadership Conference last week. It was AWESOME! I enjoy Convention, but there are thousands of people there. Leadership is much smaller (I heard around 1300 this year) and more intimite. It's just a totally different atmosphere and I love it! While Convention is open to all demonstrators, Leadership is for those who are actively building their business and have downline. The training we receive is more business building rather than just product-oriented. But there's still lots of stamping and cool ideas! Including an announcement about a NEW product! Check it out! (sorry about the quality of the pictures- they are shots of the screens in the theater)

Woohoo! I can’t wait to order this! Now we’ll be able to make diagonal score lines! It will be great for making envelopes and lots of other things!

The other big announcement was the changes to our catalogs! In a nutshell, starting June 1, 2012, Stampin' Up! will release one annual catalog, comparable to (but slightly smaller than) the current Idea Book & Catalog, and two seasonal catalogs, comparable to (but larger than) the current mini catalogs.

Annual Catalog
  • The annual catalog will run from June 1, 2012 through May 31, 2013.
  • The annual catalog will be reduced from over 240 pages in the current Idea Book & Catalog to 208 pages.
  • The annual catalog will be printed on lighter-weight paper.
  • Stamp sets will still be shown at actual size and sample projects will still be shown.
  • Décor Elements and Simply Adorned product lines will be discontinued.

Seasonal Catalogs
  • The Occasions, Summer, and Holiday Mini Catalogs will be replaced by two seasonal catalogs called the Holiday Catalog and the Spring Catalog.
    • The first Holiday Catalog will run from August 1, 2012 through the beginning of January, 2013
    • The first Spring Catalog will run from the beginning of January, 2013 through May 31, 2013.
  • The seasonal catalogs will be larger in both size (8 1/2" x 11") and page count (about 40 pages) than the current mini catalogs.
  • These new seasonal catalogs will give have a longer selling period for each than with the current mini catalogs (more time for you to buy) and more room to include seasonal-specific products (more things for you to buy).
Exciting! I can’t wait to see the new catalog!

Of course we had to visit the Alamo since we were in San Antonio!

The Riverwalk is beautiful and the weather was perfect almost every day- sunny and in the 70’s. Only 1 day of fog and light rain so it was cooler.

I can’t wait to find out where Leadership will be next year! And I’d love to have you join me! Now is the perfect time to start your Stampin’ Up! business- the Starter Kit is only $125 during Sale-A-Bration! Sign up today!

Spark-A-Ly!

This is the 5th and final card from the November Stamp-A-Stack

I love the Stocking Builder Punch and am so bummed that Stampin' Up! announced that it will not be available again once the Holiday Mini Catalog is done or the supply runs out, whichever comes first. If you haven't purchased it yet, order it now before it's gone!

The greeting for this card is from Hand-Penned Holidays

I hope you have enjoyed seeing the cards from the November Stamp-A-Stack! I wish I could schedule another, but I'm not sure how long we'll be living in my classroom! Keep your fingers crossed that we find a house we like SOON!

The Holiday Mini Catalog goes until January 3, 2012. Order today so you don't miss out on anything you want/need! I think I need to stock up on the Glimmer Papers!

Make Your Own Embossing Plate

This was the 4th card from the November Stamp-A-Stack:

No stamps! Just the Snowflake #2 die and Glimmer Brads!

Colors: Whisper White, Blushing Bride and Concord Crush

Cool, but did you notice the background?

I made my own embossing plate using pieces I cut from the Snowflake die!

This is what my "embossing plate" looks like. It's a thin piece of cardboard with pieces of the snowflake cut out of thin cardboard attached. If you look closely, you can see the sticky strip that I used to attach them. The first time I ran this thru the Big Shot the cardstock ended up stuck to the tape. So I went over it with the Embossing Buddy and it's not sticky anymore!

Here's the "sandwich" I used:

cutting plate
silicone pad
card stock
embossing plate
cutting plate
Multi-Purpose Platform- Tab 1

The silicone pad is the Standard Texturz Silicone Rubber #114615 on page 215 of the Idea Book & Catalog. It allows the card stock to really push into the texture of the embossing plate. You get 2 very disctinct looks on each side of the card stock- one is raised and the other is indented. I liked them both and did one of each for my samples. The pink one has the snowflakes pressed in, the purple one has them popped out. This wasn't my original idea, but I haven't seen it done for awhile and thought it was something worth sharing! Let me know if you try it! I'd love to see your cards!

Christmas Lodge With A Different Fold

I would love to say I came up with this beautiful card, but someone else beat me to it! Of course I can't remember where I saw it now. I'll keep looking and update my post when I find out.

Christmas Lodge

Colors: Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla

Starburst Embossing Folder, 3/8" Quilted Satin Ribbon, 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" Circle punches

It doesn't show well in the pictures, but the tree and branches with the birds have Dazzling Details on them- very sparkly and so easy to use!

Here's what the card looks like open. When a card like this opens sideways it's called a "Z Fold". I'm not sure what you would call this one since it's up and down.
