Santa's Suit Coming Down The Chimney Card & Box

Today's card is an idea I came up with after seeing a similar card and box at the Creative Connection. My first thought when I saw it was that it looked like a chimney! So here is my "Santa Coming Down The Chimney" card!

The box is 2 x 2 x 2", so I started with a piece of card stock that was 6 x 6" and scored it at 2" and 4" in both directions. I cut out 2 of the middle pieces so it looked like an "H", folded on all of the score lines, then brought the ends together and attached them with Tear & Tape to make the box.

For the lid, I started with a piece of card stock that was 3 1/8 x 3 1/8". I scored it at 1/2", turned it, scored again at 1/2" and kept going until all four sides were scored. This made it so it was just a bit larger than my 2" box and fit easily on top of it. I cut one side of each little corner to create flaps so I could adhere them to make the box top, but before I put it together, I attached a 1 1/2" square of Basic Black and cut a slit in the middle to put my Santa legs through.

To make the cut out for the card, I cut slits at 2 1/2 and 4 1/2" that are 3/4" down, then cut the line between them to remove the section for the box. You don't want this opening to be too big or your box won't stay in place, so make sure the distance between your cuts will be the same size as your box!
