Cards For Quiet Oaks

What do you do when you have so many cards they end up taking over your crafting space?

You donate them!

This is a large box of cards I recently donated to Quiet Oaks, a hospice house in St. Cloud, MN. Both my dad and John's dad went there at the end of their lives. The staff there is amazing and they take care of the whole family, not just the patient.

When John's dad was there seven years ago, I noticed they had a card rack full of handmade cards. When my dad was there two years ago, there weren't as many cards. John did some work there over the summer clearing and planting grass. He was invited to their volunteer appreciation party this fall and asked if I wanted to go with him. We walked through the house so he could point out a few areas where he had done some work, and we saw that there was still a card rack with cards in it, but they weren't stamped. I had John ask if they had any interest in stamped cards when he went back after that to check on some of the grass. They said absolutely, so I went through the cards that were filling box after box in my office and pulled "a few" out! I wish I would have taken the time to count them before we dropped them off. They were so excited to get them! They said they will use a lot of them and offer them for sale to families that are visiting. Perfect!

If you have extra cards, check into donating them to local organizations!
