The Planner was one of the first things on my wish list for the new catalog! I put mine together this weekend and think I'm really going to like it! Lots of room to write down the important stuff and fun ways to decorate it!
I did the drink different this time. I cut it out with the framelit and Lemon Lime Twist cardstock (no stamping). It's designed to cut out the stamped image but it leaves a white border around it, so without the stamping, the straw seemed too big. I stamped it in Tempting Turquoise directly on the card and then covered up the glass with what I cut out. It made the drink a little bigger, which is always a good thing!
The Stamp Share For Leaders group had their New Catalog Pizza Party Wednesday night. I sent my cards in by mail, so I haven't gotten them back yet. I can't wait to see them because they are always awesome! We make 2 cards, 40 of each, so we end up with 80 different cards! Here's my first card:
Colors: Basic Black and Lemon Lime Twist
I am so glad Stampin' Up! is bringing back Adhesive Sheets! They make it so easy to attach dies cuts like this that are too skinny for SNAIL or Fast Fuse and too big for the Fine Tip Glue Pen which tends to dry before you can get the whole thing ready. I still had some of my old ones, so I used them for my swaps. I started by cutting 3 x 4" pieces to put on the Lemon Lime Twist layer:
Then I ran them through the Big Shot with the adhesive side up:
The other side looks like this:
The die cut piece pops right out and is ready to adhere:
But first, here's that layer attached to the Basic Black card base- bonus! No additional adhesive required!
When you attach the next layer, no one can tell that you cut out of it!
(sorry for the weird color- it really is black!)
I also tried this design in Basic Gray:
It would be great in any color combination! So quick and easy!
Saw this on Facebook and decided to share it here:
Here are some ground rules for this Memorial Day Weekend:
1. Don't wish me a Happy Memorial Day - there is nothing happy about brave men and women dying.
2. It's not a holiday or a sale, it's a day of remembrance.
3. You want to know the true meaning, visit your local Cemetery or a VA Hospital.
4. Don't tell me how great anyone political power is. Let's talk about and honor those who gave their all so we can enjoy the freedoms we have.
5. Say a prayer, and then raise a glass and thank God for the men/women who are no longer here.
P.S. DO NOT "Thank" a living Veteran for his/her service... they'll get honored on Veterans' Day in November !!
This is a time to remember that the true price of Freedom is spent in the lives that defend it. Honor those brave souls that have, in a moment of courage, given the last full measure of themselves in order to secure Liberty.
The May Stamp-A-Stack was on Saturday! The first card we made was a fun birthday card that would be fun to receive for all ages! Instead of using the pop-up balloons inside the card, we put them on the front.
When I saw this Happy Birthday Thinlit in the new 2017-2018 Annual Catalog I knew I had to have it! I love the font (similar to the Stylized Birthday stamp!) and the size- perfect for the main image on a card! It comes in a bundle with a coordinating stamp set called "Happy Birthday Gorgeous". The flowers, leaves, and squiggle are from the set.
Adding the Rhinestones was a happy accident. The flower stamps have a little tab on them to help line them up, but I got ink on one and ended up with a stray spot above the right flower. It started as a mistake, but ended up a creative opportunity!
Stampin' Up! has made this awesome chart of Color Combinations for the new 2017-2019 In Colors! You're going to love these new colors! I wasn't sure about Lemon Lime Twist since it's kind of yellow, but it looks awesome with Basic Black and Basic Gray!

I love how Kim cut apart the Flourish and made it wrap around the circle!
Also uses Pearl Basic Jewels, which are on the Retiring List and have sold out. But never fear! They are coming back in the 2017-2018 Annual Catalog in a new configuration! Instead of 50 each in 2, 3, and 5 mm they'll come in 3 (100), 4 (20), and 5 (20) mm. And no more connected strips. I always ended up cutting those apart any way! I'm excited to have more of the 3 mm size! Not too big and not too small!
