Cold Spring Community Showcase

I had a booth at the Cold Spring Community Showcase on Saturday at the ROCORI High School. It was fun talking to people about stamping! I sold a few things and had some people who said they would like to come to a class sometime so it was a good day. It's amazing how tired you get just sitting around, though! I forgot to take a picture of the whole booth, but this is what I had on my display board:

These are the cards I made with the Paper Pumpkin Welcome Kit that everyone gets when they sign up.

Cards from the March Stamp-A-Stack and info about the April one. I got lots of compliments on my Easter Basket card!

I had a drawing for a $10 gift certificate and Nichole L. was the winner! Congratulations Nichole!

Stamp-A-Stack Good As Gold Card Kit

The March Stamp-A-Stack was last Saturday! One of the cards we made was my Chocolate Bunny in a Hardwood Easter Basket, which I shared last week. You can see it here. I had a little surprise for everyone with the next card. Rather than making two of each card like we normally do, I gave them each a Good As Gold Card Kit from the Sale-A-Bration brochure. There are supplies to make eight cards in the kit. I made four samples, using only what was in the kit, to give them ideas, but they could make theirs however they wanted. I told them I would put my cards on here right away so they could see them again if they didn't make all of their cards. So here they are! I hope you enjoy looking at them and get some ideas!

This is the card shown with the kit

For this card, I ran it through the Decorative Dots embossing folder.

The kit includes sentiments in German and French so I decided to use all three on this card.

The pieces of Baker's Twine and Gold Elastic Cord are 24" long. For this card, I cut a piece of the cord into 4 pieces and tied them in to the Baker's Twine bow.

If you like these cards, you can get the Good As Gold Card Kit for FREE when you place an order of at least $50 by March 31st!

E-mail, call or text me your order, or

The April Stamp-A-Stack will be on Saturday the 12th. Please sign up by Wednesday the 9th if you would like to join us!

Suggestions For Getting Clear Mount Stamps To Stick To The Block

There's a new feature on the Stampin' Up! website for demonstrators called "Ask Professor Penny, MD". The MD stands for Master Demonstrator. Today there is a question about getting clear mount stamps to stick to the block and I thought I would share the answer...

Dear Professor Penny,

I'm loving the clear-mount stamps for so many reasons but sometimes they don't stick very well. Do you have any tips you can share on how to make them adhere better to the blocks?

A Sticky Solution

Dear Sticky,

Aren't clear-mount stamps a great addition? I love them too! But you're right- getting them to cling to the blocks can sometimes be tricky, especially if you live in a humid climate.

Luckily, I've got some great tips. Start by making sure the block is clean; cleaning them with the Clear Block Cleaning Cloth (item 121779) and rubbing alcohol or glass cleaner works great. Once your block is squeaky clean, apply the stamp to the block firmly- you can't damage the stamp or the block, so push hard. You can tell if you pushed hard enough by turning the block over (rubber side down) and looking at the air bubbles. If the air bubbles are flat, you're good. If they're still nice and round, push harder until those bubbles flatten out.

If the stamp is still not sticking, try these two quick fixes:

*  Apply just a little squiggle of 2-Way Glue (item 100425) on the label of the stamp and let it dry completely. It dries clear but is a little tacky, which helps the stamp stick to the block better.

*  Because the foam on the clear stamps has a stronger cling than the label, try using the stamps without the labels. This only works on stamps that you haven't labeled thought. If you've already labeled your stamps, don't try to pull the label off; you'll damage the stamp and the label!

Be sure to check out our Clear Mount 101 video too. You'll find out lots more about the clear-mount stamps!

I'll add a few tips too:

* I find it's easier to put the stamp rubber side down and then put the block on top of the stamp and press together. This way I can see when it's adhered.

* Sometimes rubbing the block on your pants leg helps- the friction warms up the block a little and helps the stamp stick. Or try huffing on it so your breath warms the block.

* If you're in a hurry, put a little adhesive on the label of the stamp. Just make sure you clean it off your block when you're done or it will stick to other things! You can leave it on the label if you put it back in the case right away. Otherwise it could stick to something and get lost.

My Chocolate Bunny In A Hardwood Easter Basket

I'm taking a break from the Paper Pumpkin kits today to show you the card I made for our Stamp Share swap tonight:

Do you recognize the bunny stamp? It's a stamp I carved based on the Chocolate Bunny stamp we used to have. I used the "Undefined" Stamp Carving Kit to make it. It was so easy!

Colors: Wisteria Wonder, Wild Wasabi. Pink Pirouette, So Saffron, Marina Mist, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White

Accessories: Small Oval Punch, Fringe Scissors (Occasions)

This will be one of the cards at the Stamp-A-Stack this Saturday! Sign up by Wednesday evening if you would like to join us! Make 10 cards (2 each of 5 designs) for $20.

Paper Pumpkin October Memo Medley

Another non-card kit, "Memo Medley". This one is a cute memo pad. There's a rubber band that reminds me of a rubber bracelet on the bottom to hold the end of the paper roll, which is tied onto the board with heavy twine.

My memo board, with a sample of the included stamps. Unfortunately this kit is not available to purchase, but sign up for Paper Pumpkin and you'll get other fun kits each month!  Go to  www.mypaperpumpkin.com to sign up! Please choose me as your demonstrator.

Paper Pumpkin September Wahoo

September's Paper Pumpkin kit was "Wahoo". I always say "woohoo" so I like this stamp!

My sample card

Turned the other way with a couple extra pieces. I colored the words with a marker after I stamped them to get them darker.

After punching out the chevrons, I was left with these strips. I trimmed them, turned one each way, and wove them together to create this cute border. You can use the Chevron Border Punch in the Occasions Catalog to make your own border like this!

Just added a few card stock scraps in Cajun Craze and Early Espresso

This kit is available to order for current Paper Pumpkin subscribers. $7.95 plus shipping for the refill (no stamps or ink). If you are not a Paper Pumpkin subscriber yet, go to www.mypaperpumpkin.com to sign up! Please choose me as your demonstrator.

Paper Pumpkin May Good Life Brag Book

The 2nd Paper Pumpkin Kit, from May, was "Good Life Brag Book". I don't usually make little scrapbooks so I thought I would make this into cards. Unfortunately the sayings on the accents are definitely scrapbooking related! Rather than having them sit here collecting dust, I sold them. But I thought I would still share what they looked like so you can see the variety of projects that are Paper Pumpkin.

Paper Pumpkin April Seriously Kit

After the Welcome Kit, the next Paper Pumpkin kit I received was in April, "Seriously". I love it because they always say that on "Grey's Anatomy", one of my favorite shows. I even named one of our puppies "Izzy" because of the character on the show! I'm so glad it's back on again with new shows! OK, back to the cards...

my sample card

The other stamp in the kit says "love your guts". Not something I would normally use, but if you use a marker you can just ink up "love you". Much better! I added a layer of Cherry Cobbler card stock and a heart from the Small Heart Punch.

I added a layer of Old Olive card stock. The "happy birthday" is from Express Yourself, a hostess set.

"Awesome...thanks!" is from Yippee-Skippee.

This kit was one of the ones available for current Paper Pumpkin subscribers to purchase extras. The full set is sold out, but refills (no stamps or ink spot) are still available for $7.95 plus shipping. If you aren't already a subscriber, go to www.mypaperpumpkin.com to subscribe. Please choose me as your demonstrator. Then you can call Stampin' Up! to order extra kits and refills.
