Thanksgiving Banner

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

This is the banner I made to hang by the fireplace in our living room. I was going to share it on Wednesday or Thursday, but life got a little hectic! We had my whole family and John's parents here for Thanksgiving- 18 of us total. We had way too much food as usual! I hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

Stamps: none

Colors: Chocolate Chip, Sahara Sand, Tangerine Tango, Soft Sky, Crushed Curry

Accessories: Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit, Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper, Autumn Accents die, Burlap Ribbon, Chalk Marker, Multi Purpose Adhesive Sheets, Dimensionals

This was CASE'd from a similar banner I saw on Pinterest. I typed the letters in Microsoft Word and enlarged them to the size I wanted, then used a pencil to transfer them onto the chalkboard labels from the kit and colored them in with the Chalk Marker.

Magnificent Maple Truly Grateful Gold Ink vs. Gold Embossing

Which do you like better...Gold Ink or Gold Embossing? I decided to make a card each way to help me decide which I prefer.

First up, Gold Encore Ink, embossed with Clear Embossing Powder. I would love to be able to just use the Encore Inks as is, but they take forever to dry. Luckily I have LOTS of Clear Powder to emboss!

This card is made with Versamark Ink and Gold Embossing Powder:

Close up:

I like them both, but for different reasons! When you use Clear Embossing Powder you don't have to worry about stray flecks of colored Embossing Powder on your project and all the detail shows up. When you use colored Embossing Powder, it's very rich looking but you lose some of the detail of what you have stamped. I still can't decide for sure which I like better- guess it depends on the project!

Stamps: Magnificent Maple, Truly Grateful

Colors: Gold, Copper, Early Espresso, Naturals Ivory, Very Vanilla

Accessories: Taste of Textiles Specialty Paper (retired), Brushed Gold Card Stock, Burlap Ribbon, Clear and Gold Embossing Powder, Modern Label, 1" and 3/4" Circle Punches, and Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack

I used the Multi-Purpose Adhesive Sheets to attach the Burlap to the card and attach the little pieces to the Burlap. I don't have to worry about anything coming apart when I use it!

Stamp-A-Stack Season of Style Gift Bow Pop & Place Slider

Another fun, slightly different style of card that slides open:

Stamp: Christmas Tagables Photopolymer

Colors: Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White

Accessories: Season of Style Designer Series Paper Stack, Pop & Place Holiday Gift Tags Book, Gift Bow Die, Large Scallop Edgelit, Sticky Strip

To make this card, I started with a piece of Crumb Cake card stock that is 4 1/4 x 11 and cut off 3". I scored the 8" long piece at 4", folded it and put SNAIL on just the sides to create the pocket. I scored the 3" piece at 1 1/2", folded it and attached it to just the end of another piece of Crumb Cake that is 3 x 4 1/4" to make the slider. Add the Cherry Cobbler scallop before attaching the front part of the fold. Die cut the bow and assemble with the instructions included with the die, add to the top of the slider. I used Sticky Strip to hold the pieces of the bow together- LOVE that stuff for 3D projects!
You could attach a picture or a gift card to the slider!
The next Stamp-A-Stack will be on Saturday December 14th. Hope you can join us! Sign up by the 11th so I can have everything ready for you.

More Designer Series Paper Gift Bags I made for the craft sale this weekend:

These were made with retired "Twitterpated" DSP and various ribbons, most retired. The bag on the left is the tallest at 8 1/2", the bag in the front is the shortest at 6". Here's the link to the post where I shared directions for how to make these.

USE IT UP Bella Birds Designer Series Paper Gift Bags

I have a craft sale tomorrow at my son's high school so I've been busy getting everything ready for it this week. The sale is for hand made items only- no direct sales or commercially available products. I'll be selling my cards and a few other things I've made, like these Designer Series Paper bags. I've shared these before- check out this post for the directions.

These were made with retired "Bella Birds" Designer Series Paper and retired Chocolate Chip Scallop Dots ribbon. They are 3 x 6 x 7 1/2" tall and 3 x 6 x 5 1/2" tall.

If you are in the area and looking for something to do tomorrow, check out the craft sale at the Rocori High School in Cold Spring. It's open 9-3 and is in the cafeteria.

USE IT UP Gently Falling Mini Bag

This cute little bag was from the 2010 Holiday Catalog. I found it again when I was doing some cleaning in my office/stamp room. It was undecorated but had the scalloped edge already. I think it was going to be for a project but never made it! So, I had a customer order just a punch and I was looking for something to put it in to give to her, rather than using a huge Stampin' Up! bag. I remembered this bag and it was the perfect size (2 1/4 x 3 1/2 x 6 1/2)! Of course it needed to be dressed up a little...

Stamps: Gently Falling

Colors: Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze

Accessories: 3/8" Stitched Ribbon (in Summer Starfruit, because that was the closest match I had to the ink colors I used), Crop-A-Dile (to punch the holes), Scallop Edge Border Punch
